Humic and fulvic acids are two fractions of the same material doing rather different jobs. The larger humic molecules work in the soil, holding nutrients against leaching and improving structure over time. The smaller fulvic fraction is fully water-soluble, which is what lets it move nutrients about and be taken up directly.
