What Dr Forest is

Dr Forest is a UK organic fertiliser brand founded in 2020 by Joe, who formulates, weighs, blends and packs every batch himself in a unit in Stockport. The name honours his grandfather, Dr Forrest (spelt with two Rs), a GP near Preston who kept a vegetable plot. The business spelling drops one R: "Forest" for nature, hence the tagline "Trust nature".

What makes it different

• Plant-based and mineral inputs only. No blood, bone, hoof, horn, feather meal or poultry-litter fillers — no slaughterhouse by-products, ever.
• Full ingredient transparency: 15–18 inputs listed individually per blend.
• Formulation works back from a target cation ratio (around 3:1:3 Ca:Mg:K for most crop blends), not from NPK. NPK is the last number to land.
• "Made with organic ingredients" rather than "certified organic": most raw materials carry organic certification; finished blends are not all separately certified, and the brand states this plainly rather than overclaiming.
• Small batches, usually 50–250 kg, hand-blended and checked before bagging.
